Horatio has been making his own headlines this week!!

The handsome devil is also featured as daily hamster on the blog of the same name. I think you’ll have to agree that this is a deserved appearance for Horatio and may the adoration continue!

It’s been a long time coming! Horatio has finally arrved in Bude, another pituresque cornwall town. Famous for its scenic costal walks it was a natural pit-stop on Horatio’s journey. Although instead of taking in the scenary he instead went for a wintery dip in the seawater lido! Practicing his butterfly as onlookers were baffled by a swimming hamster in the middle of a cold cold winter.
The push into devon continues with earnest as Horatio approaches 100 miles travelled!
Just a few reminders:

Well well, it’s been a slow few days for Horatio, he’s been managing just over 3 miles a day. Maybe he is getting bored of his wheel? We hope not, he has a long long way to go! We are going to launch a CSI style investigation and see if we can’t get to the bottom of this!
In case any of you were wondering where Horatio got his name, yes, you guessed it. We named him after the ginger lothario himself Horatio Caine of CSI: Miami fame, both Bryony and I are massive fans so had to name our ginger hamster after him!

It’s been another successful week on the road for Horatio:

As you can see these are up on last week although he didn’t manage a 9 mile record breaking day, which I don’t think will be a regular occurrence! Heres the breakdown of how this weeks total panned out:

Horatio is well into his hike now and predictions of his finnish date a rattling round in my mind, which gave me an idea, why not run a competition for people to pick a day? So thats what we’re going to do, a little sweepstake action!
Go here and check the dates already taken and then fill in the form with your choices!
Horatio will collate the entries and post them on the calendar!
For now the prize is simply gloating rights - but I will try to get some vouchers or something, maybe even a custom hamster hike t-shirt, no promises though!!

Hamster Kills a Man
You can picture the scene: It’s been a messy night out, kebab in hand, you stumble down a dark alley and out from the shadows jumps a killer zombie hamster, it goes straight for the jugular and you die. Well this isn’t what happened in this story, but it was good while it lasted right?
PC Case Modding Goes Too Far?

Other News….
Horatio has covered an impressive 58 miles and is on his way from cornwall into devon. His sleep patterns are much more regular now so webcam action is limited, also our lamp in our sitting room broken and there isn’t enough light in the cage. We will be sorting this ASAP.

This is an amazing achievement, in only 10 days Horatio has travelled over 50 miles. Can you all put your hands together and join us in a round of applause for Horatio, he well and truly deserves it!
Horatio had a few words to say:
I would like to dedicate this achievement to President Obama! It is a momentous day for us both! Well, slightly more momentous for me, my legs are after all less than an inch long.

Any film that stars a hamster is a hit with us, due for UK release early february, Walt Disney’s Bolt not only features a hamster, but a fat one who is confined to his ball. Bolt (John Travoltta) is a hollywood dog, living on a TV set, and doesn’t know the difference between his real life and the life of his on screen character. One day Bolt is accidently shipped to New York, the film follows his journey as he tries to get home. He finds help along the way in an alley cat called Mittens (Sussie Esseman), and of course the fat hamster, Rhino (Mark Walton).
I don’t think the reviews over in America have been that great but this has got to be a hit with hamster owners everywhere! We can’t wait to see it!

Horatio hit the surf at Fistral in Newquay today sporting full winter gear (water temp is 10C), he’s no prude when it comes to getting suited and booted in the winter! The waves were pumping and Horatio took full advantage of the 5 star conditions (magicseaweed), dropping in on this beauty effortlessly! Newquay is a weird kind of town, Horatio fitting right in with the laid back surf attitude in the day, but was a little disturbed by the amount of hen/stag parties at night! Not letting this phase him however, he partied long and hard, and is somewhat suffering today. 42.35 miles travelled, the new wheel is definitely improving his daily distance!
